Did the Hobbit ruin Lord of the Rings for you or make it better?

I read The Hobbit first as a kid and loved the lightness of it. Then LOTR felt almost too heavy and serious in comparison. But some people say reading LOTR first and then The Hobbit makes the world feel fuller. What order did you read them and did it matter?

Hobbit first for me and I think it's the right call for new readers. Eases you into Middle Earth without drowning you.

LOTR first. The Hobbit feels like a prequel easter egg when you already know the world. Reading it first sets up expectations that LOTR then has to break.
