Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. My mum read it to me at 7 and I've never stopped reading.
Goosebumps. Not literature but it taught me that books could scare you and that was enough.
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. A boy alone in the Canadian wilderness surviving with just a hatchet. I read it in one afternoon aged 10 and wanted more immediately.
