A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Divisive but I think it's one of the most significant American novels of the century so far.
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. A Dickens adaptation set in the opioid crisis. Remarkable.
Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders. The form is totally original and it earns every bit of its strangeness.
