"A multi-disciplinary approach reinterprets the Mixtec codices and argues that they present a Mixtec history of the political fragmentation that occurred in Oaxaca following Monte Albán's decline. Through archaeological survey and informant interviews, authors correlate specific postclassic archaeological sites with the codices.
