An Animal Cries is a coming of age story set in Washington, D.C. in 1991. It tells the story of a recent college graduate filled with idealism who tries to succeed in our nation's capitol. The protagonist finds a world much different from the friendly confines of his New England college and struggles find his identity. Instead he falls headlong into the dark side of Washington, D.C. and engages in self destructive behavior that threatens his future. This is a timeless tale of the looking for the American dream that is as relevant today as it was when first released in 1998 -- perhaps even more so.
